Why order this West Point 2011-W Silver Eagle
This 2011-W West Point Silver Eagle was struck on a burnished blank at the West Point Mint. Struck from .999 fine silver, this piece bears a “W” Mint mark. The coin marked the twenty-fifth anniversary of the original release of the American Silver Eagle.
Classic Adolph Weinman Design
Adolph Weinman’s Walking Liberty design, which made its debut on the half dollar, serves as the obverse design. To the left, the sun rises from the horizon. At the center is Liberty, who is draped in an American flag and has a Phrygian cap, which is symbolic of freedom from slavery, atop her head. She bears laurel and oak branches, which are symbolic of civilian and military honors, respectively.
John Mercanti’s reverse is an adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States. At the center is a union shield, which is guarded by an eagle. The eagle grasps arrows and an olive branch, symbols of military readiness and peace, in its talons. Thirteen stars are arranged above its head, representing the original states.
Flawless Mint State 70 Early Releases
Graders at the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) found that this coin lacked any flaws visible under 5x magnification. As such, they gave it their highest grade, Mint State 70. They also certified it as an Early Releases, a designation only given to coins that were received for grading within thirty days of their initial issue by the mint.
