The burnished (uncirculated) variety of the U.S. Mint’s American Silver Eagle coin was introduced in 2006 to commemorate the twentieth year of issue for the series. The coin features a smooth, satiny finish and a “W” Mint mark like the proof, to identify its collectible status. This 2007-W Burnished Silver Eagle was struck at the West Point Mint from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver, its final mintage reported to be 621,333.

The obverse features Lady Liberty striding toward the rising sun, draped in the American flag, while cradling a bundle of oak and laurel branches. Inscribed “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “2007.”
The reverse by John Mercanti depicts a heraldic eagle behind a shield grasping an olive branch and arrows, similar to the emblem of the Great Seal of the United States. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “W” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
