Patriotic American Silver Eagle Design
Obverse: On the obverse, Lady Liberty is depicted walking towards the rising sun, while draped in an American flag. Inscribed “LIBERTY,” “1995” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” This timeless rendition of Liberty was originally designed for the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar by acclaimed sculptor Adolph A. Weinman.
Reverse: The reverse features an eagle grasping arrows and an olive branch. Inscribed “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “W” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” Designed by 12th U.S. Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti, the heraldic eagle is the defining characteristic of the Type-1 Silver Eagle that was issued from 1986 until mid-2021.
